Description

Effigy figures have been used throughout history tracing their roots back to the graeco-roman empire.  These figures were made from wax, iron, clay or cloth and were utilized to represent a person, spirit or ghost.  They were typically maimed, bound or buried in some manner to represent the hindering of the person or spirit the figure represented.  Effigy figures were even used by the Roman Catholic Church.  Consider when Peter De Abano was found guilty by the inquisition after his death.  It was ordered that his body be exhumed and burned.  Someone however had relocated his body prior to this and because it could not be found, a figure was made in his likeness and burned publicly.

My effigy figures are 100% beeswax and stand 7.5 inches tall.  They are not candles.
